Following on from the last 5 Unsung Goal Setting Tips…
It might look like ‘not much’ but really think and lean into the questions being asked below.
1. What are you willing to do to achieve your goals? What are you NOT willing to do? Are you willing to leave people behind? Are you willing to work two jobs? Are you willing to work and study at the same time?
Now thinking about your goals – what it is going to take for success and are you willing to do that?
2. Re-evaluation. Is working towards your goals constantly tough? Are you hitting obstacles ‘at every turn’? Is it time to re-examine your goals? Time spent taking a break or evaluating alternatives is rarely wasted when you are at the point of making no progress towards your success.
3. Continuous Learning. You have no doubt heard the adage that a mistake isn’t a mistake if you learn from it? Whether you succeed with your goal or not, you will have learned things along the way – knowledge, skills, etc. THAT’s a win! The military use the phrase ‘test and adjust’. When you are trying to find the right way for you, you might try many things – some will fit, others won’t. It doesn’t mean that you’ve failed. A mindset of continuous learning will keep you growing and evolving.
And remember… If your goals aren’t inspiring you, you’ve missed the whole point of goals!
